  1. >I was a little surprised Alan Hollinghurst's "The Stranger's Child" and Sebastian Barry's "On Canaan's Side" were not on the short list. I was hoping Barry would win. Maybe next year, and congratulations to all who made the short list, especially the debut authors. Quite an accomplishment.
