>I worked last night at the Augusta County Fair, at the Augusta County Democratic Committee booth. Since our district did not manage to find a Congressional candidate (despite the vulnerability of all incumbents this year), the only race we have is for the Senate, so we spent the evening handing out brochures and bumper stickers for Jim Webb. (Webb provides the only literary link for this post, as he has published several novels.) I’m not much of a fair-goer, so this is the only way I ever get close to demolition derbies, rodeos, snake charmers and whatever other excitement goes on.
