>I just received my contributor’s copies of REAL (Regarding Arts and Letters) 33.1 which includes my story “House of the Ancients.” The story is a magical realist tale set in Mexico City and is a companion piece to a story that should be in the next issue of Per Contra.

About the author

I am the author of three novels--THE LAST BIRD OF PARADISE, OLIVER'S TRAVELS, and THE SHAMAN OF TURTLE VALLEY--and three story collections--IN AN UNCHARTED COUNTRY, HOUSE OF THE ANCIENTS AND OTHER STORIES, and WHAT THE ZHANG BOYS KNOW, winner of the Library of Virginia Literary Award for Fiction.
