>Santaland Diaries

>
Traditionally, the American Shakespeare Center shifts to its holiday repertoire at this time of year for its performances at the Blackfriars Playhouse and this year is no different. This evening I saw Paul Fidalgo in David Sedaris‘s “Santaland Diaries,” a very funny and irreverent one man show about a man who is hired to be an elf in Macy’s Santaland. Fidalgo (who’s blog might be of interest–and you might want to follow the links to his political blog also) is a member of the ASC’s resident troupe and is a terrically talented guy, and he’s great in this show. I was glad to see John Harrell, who has played David/Crumpet in previous ASC productions of Santaland, providing the pre-show entertainment. We are so lucky in Staunton to have both of these performers (and the whole ASC experience) with us.
