>Sewanee: Day 8

>Although I had work to do, I decided to go to the Fellows’ reading this morning, and I’m glad I did. Later in the day I bought books by Marie Lee and Jason Ockert because I enjoyed their fiction.

Then there was a craft lecture by Wyatt Prunty, who was looking at the concrete details in the poetry–especially the endings–of Elizabeth Bishop.

I used the afternoon to read workshop pieces plus do revision to my own stories, and then I attended the reading by Daniel Anderson. One of the poems, about a dog who is dying, moved me a great deal.

After dinner there was Tony Earley’s reading from his new work in progress. “It’s a mule!”

Plus eating and drinking and talking . . .
