>No, not the Malcolm Lowry novel. I just received some copies of the brochure for the Under the Volcano writer’s retreat. The dates for 2007 are January 5-14, in Tepoztlan, Mexico. Faculty include Grace Paly and Luis Urrea teaching fiction, and Martin Espada and Breyten Breytenbach teaching poetry. I’ve done this program twice–in 2004 with Russell Banks and in 2005 with Grace Paley–and thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting is delightful and January is a great time to be in Mexico. Hmm. I may have to go back.
