>Writing Short Stories

>The second panel I attended at Virginia Festival of the Book was on Writing Short Stories. One of the readers was my friend from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference 2004, Quinn Dalton, whose collection Bulletproof Girl is coming out next month. Also on the panel were Alix Strauss (author of The Joy of Funerals) and Lorraine Lopez (author of Soy la Avon Lady, and Other Stories). This one was also excellent, and all three answered lots of questions about trends in the short story, “novels in stories”, publishing tips. Again, an SRO crowd. I know, because I had to stand, despite being a friend of one of the panelists!
