Hi, Cliff. Thanks for doing this again. It’s a big help!
A couple of notes on the poetry list:
The Poetry Review link is broken. This one works: http://poetrysociety.org.uk/publications-section/the-poetry-review/
Also, I wonder if you know (or care) that many of the entities listed are book publishers and not journals (Copper Canyon, Four Way Books, Barefoot Muse, Tupelo Press, BOA Editions, LSU Press, Tree Light Books, White Pine Press, Yesyes Books, at a glance).
Thanks again!
Burt
Thanks for the correction. I’ve updated the link.
Obviously I know that some of the listings are for book publishers; they also make Pushcart Prize nominations and win prizes or special mentions, so I chose not to exclude them.
I made the nomination for Thylias Moss, but our magazine is not listed. Thank you. JL Jacobs, Abstractmagazinetv.com.
Thanks for your comment. The only magazines that are listed are those that either win a Pushcart Prize or earn a special mention. Almost all magazines nominate but only winners/special mentions earn a place in the rankings.
Our nominee was selected and is reading at the Strand in November. I’m just curious. I can send copies of the documents. Thylias Moss was selected.
As I said, a nomination isn’t enough. Only magazines that have won the Pushcart Prize or received a Special Mention in the annual anthology are included in the rankings.
I am also curious. Persea has nothing to do with this, and that is the way it must remain. At the Strand reading, I will not be acknowledging Persea at all. For what is right must prevail, and will in this case.
I will be honest even if no one else will.
I’m not sure what you are curious about, or what Persea has to do with me. What I explained to JL Jacobs was that only magazines that have won a Pushcart Prize or Special Mention are included in the rankings. A mere nomination–there are thousands of them each year–isn’t enough to be included.
It is not that I dislike postal mail but I think snail mail was meant for me. Do I have any allies with the same choice when it comes to mailing? I can afford the fees they ask for but I enjoy stuffing my envelopes and admiring my finished products. There is something rewarding about seeing my poems on 81/2 by 11 paper.
