Debora C. Martin retired to Maine after a career in public policy in Washington D.C. Traveling and exploring other cultures has been a regular part of her life since voyaging around the world, via Asia and Africa, as a student on World Campus Afloat. Comment on “Tranquilidade”: For me, most traveling involves an exploration of new norms, as well as an examination of my own values, assumptions, and relationships. “Tranquilidade” is inspired by a road trip I made in Cape Verde.
